Inline Flow Measurement

S.K.I. GmbH

The so-called SDF sensor is the heart of the inline flow measurement system developed by S.K.I. (Schlegel & Kremer Industrieautomation). With the SDF averaging pitot tube, flow is determined based on differential pressure measurement. These sensors offer the following advantages:

  • Extremely robust
  • Requires minimal maintenance
  • Causes minimal pressure loss
  • Offers a wide dynamic range
  • Delivers high accuracy

The tubes are available in various materials and coatings, allowing us to provide solutions for a wide range of applications and fluids.

Easy-to-Install Inline Flow Measurement System with SDF Pitot Tube

Easy-to-Install Inline Flow Measurement System with SDF Pitot Tube

Flow Measurement Based on Differential Pressure and Bernoulli’s Principle

Easy-to-Install Inline Flow Measurement System with SDF Pitot Tube

The system is delivered as an easy-to-install inline flow measurement setup. The core consists of the pitot tube, a manifold, and a differential pressure transmitter. The gas or liquid flow creates a pressure difference between the two sections of the SDF pitot tube. This difference is measured and transmitted by the differential pressure transmitter. The manifold enables zero-point calibration of the transmitter or isolation of the pressure line. The output from the transmitter (4–20 mA or HART protocol) can be processed further for flow calculation. Flow is determined based on the average velocity calculated using Bernoulli’s Law and the pipe’s cross-sectional area.

Fully Configured Flow Measurement with Flow Computer for Maximum Accuracy

Automatic Compensation, Zero-Point Adjustment, and Output for Further Processing

A fully configured flow measurement system includes several additional components. Since differential pressure-based flow calculation depends on fluid density, optional static pressure and temperature measurements can be added to compensate for density variations. We can deliver a complete system, including a flow computer. The flow computer implements all necessary compensations for variations, ensuring the most accurate flow determination. It also manages automatic zero-point adjustment and optional purge air control. The flow computer features analog and digital outputs for transmitting measurements and calculations for further processing.

AccuFlo® QAL

QAL-1 Certified Flow Measurement for Continuous Emission Monitoring

AccuFlo® QAL

The AccuFlo® QAL is a fully automatic measuring system, QAL-1 certified, for the continuous determination of flue gas volume flow emissions. The system consists of an SDF sensor (S.K.I.), a Sitrans P pressure transmitter (Siemens), and a µFLOW 100LSE flow computer (S.K.I.). Optionally, the system can be extended with static pressure measurement, temperature measurement, and a purge system.
