Investigating and Assessing IAQ Using Aerosol Spectrometry
The Aerosol Spectrometer model 11-D is widely used in the field of air quality. It is applied both on the process side for air handling systems and for evaluating indoor air quality concerning fine dust and aerosols. The monitor accurately displays particle size distribution across 32 channels. This data is then converted into mass values for the different dust fractions.
Effects and Applications
Field research and measurements are carried out with the 11-D aerosol spectrometer to assess the impact of exposure reduction measures to (fine) dust. Examples include the effectiveness of air purifiers and filtration technologies.

Accurate Measurements
Air purifiers and duct cleaning systems are tested both during R&D phases and production. Standardized measurement protocols are often used in this context. A great advantage of the Grimm 11-D monitor is its ability to connect to an isokinetic probe, allowing highly accurate measurements even in ducts. Sampling occurs at the same velocity as the flow at the measurement point, ensuring that the particle size distribution precisely matches the actual conditions. This enables reliable determination of filtration efficiency.
