New Certified Fine Dust Monitor for Ambient Air
The EDM280 is the latest development from Grimm Aerosol for stationary continuous ambient air particulate matter monitoring. It is an evolution of the EDM180 with significant improvements in both hardware and software.
Innovative Particle Measurement
This aerosol spectrometer analyzes particle sizes across 72 equally spaced channels. The lowest detection limit is 178 nm, while the largest particles are categorized above 29.4 μm.

Comprehensive Measurement Capabilities
The measured dust fractions include TSP, PM10, PM4, PM2.5, PM1, and PMcoarse. The unit is QAL1 certified by TÜV Rheinland — for PM2.5 in the range of 0 – 5,100 μg/m³ and for PM10 in the range of 0 – 12,000 μg/m³. In addition to these parameters, the EDM280 also provides full data on particle number and size distribution, as well as data from the meteorological sensor.
Seamless Device Connectivity
The unit features various interfaces (RS-232, USB-B, Ethernet, USB memory). It supports several protocols including the GRIMM protocol, Modbus/TCP, and GESYTEC/Bayern-Hessen protocol.
Optimized Sampling
Sampling is performed using an inlet head that is heated when the ambient temperature drops below 5°C, preventing ice formation or freezing of the intake openings. The sample tube features adaptive heating to prevent condensation, while minimizing heating to avoid altering the aerosol before measurement. Adaptive heating is controlled based on the relative humidity in the measuring cell.
