Application Areas

Trained and experienced field service engineers can install and commission the systems for you. Thanks to this turnkey concept, you can trust that your equipment is properly mounted, connected, and commissioned. This way, you have a single point of contact for your analyser or detection system project.

We are happy to perform periodic preventive maintenance and required calibrations for you, or support you with annual tests and validations. In our well-equipped workshops, we have everything on hand to provide the necessary service. For permanently installed analysis and detection systems, we naturally come to your location.

Environmental Monitoring

Common applications for dust and gas measurements to determine emissions include:

  • Collecting representative samples for laboratory analysis;
  • Extractive online gas analysis;
  • Inline dust measurements.

Dust Sampling

The most well-known application for representative sampling of emissions is the standard reference method for dust measurement. A composite sample is collected on a filter under isokinetic conditions and analysed in the laboratory to determine dust concentrations and any elements present in the dust. Ravebo is a well-known supplier of equipment for such sampling. We provide suitable equipment for all applicable European standards for dust and gas sampling in emissions.

Gas Sampling

For various gas measurements, the reference method also involves sampling via absorbent material followed by laboratory analysis. When gases are present as or bound to aerosols, isokinetic sampling is required just like for dust. In such cases, the gas absorption medium is often placed in series with the dust sampling setup, or a separate gas sampling line is used to draw a sample from the isokinetic flow. This means gas sampling is performed simultaneously with dust sampling. Ravebo supplies and maintains all required sampling pumps, probes, and accessories in compliance with European standards.

Online Gas and Dust Analysis

Gas concentrations in emissions can often be measured online. For periodic permit-based measurements, field-portable equipment is usually preferred. This includes portable gear for sampling and conditioning—ideally also a portable analyser, although certified portable analysers are not always available for every application.

For continuous emission measurements, a CEMS (Continuous Emission Monitoring System) is usually required. These are complete, fully certified systems for ongoing emission recording. CEMS exist for both gas and dust measurements. Certified inline probes are available for dust measurements, operating on optical or triboelectric principles. These probes can continuously monitor dust emissions.

Ravebo advises, integrates, supplies, and maintains components and systems for both periodic environmental lab measurements and permanent CEMS installations.

Process Control and Optimization

For process control and R&D applications aimed at optimization, real-time data on gas concentrations, dust concentrations, and particle characteristics are often required. These measurements are not subject to the same certifications as environmental monitoring. The measurements simply need to be accurate or correlate well with the desired data.

In some cases, a basic gas or dust detection system or a non-certified analyser can already provide sufficient results for process monitoring or optimization. In other cases, a standard solution may not be available at all.

For all these applications, we combine existing products and technologies for sampling and analysis or develop specific custom equipment. Examples include dilution systems, drying systems, and heated sampling pump systems.

Safety and Health

The most common application for safety and health within production environments is stationary gas and/or dust detection. This ensures worker safety by monitoring exposure to gases, vapours, or particulates.

We can be your partner for the delivery, installation, and commissioning of detection and monitoring systems to measure and control exposure to gases and dust. Such systems often consist of multiple monitors in a network or different transmitters managed and powered via one or more controllers. In safety applications, alarm systems are essential.
